Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A:
RNK was founded in 1992 and is a facilities-based CLEC that operates mainly in the Eastern United States.  RNK’s business divisions include VoIP, Prepaid, and Wholesale Carrier, which includes DID connection and traffic origination and termination.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A:
Our success is based upon keeping a keen eye on profitability and reacting swiftly to trends in the industry.  RNK only pursues business strategies that will turn a profit in the relatively short window of opportunity required to be successful in the telecom industry.

Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A:
Facing unnecessary regulatory battles that divert our resources and, in turn, our focus on certain profit making opportunities.  The other challenge is being able to effectively keep up with technology and weighing the cost versus the benefits of newer technologies.

Q: What do you see as your greatest challenges going forward?
A:
Understanding the regulatory and market factors that will influence our core business and turning that knowledge into smart, productive business decisions.

Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements?
A:
RNK has more than doubled its monthly minute throughput in the past year.  RNK has also signed major customers and been able to position itself in a way that allows RNK to service accounts that were previously served by providers who have struggled to stay profitable in this ever-changing industry.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A:
COMPTEL members are our customers, partners, and competitors, so being able to attend COMPTEL seminars, speak at COMPTEL forums, host a booth, and arrange business and personal meetings provides RNK with the perfect opportunity to continue to grow our business and our business relationships.  The regulatory and legislative resources are also quite valuable to RNK, as are the bi- annual meetings.
