Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?

A: Lumos Networks is the new name for a company with a long tradition of quality service as a fiber-based communications services provider in the Mid-Atlantic region. We serve carriers and businesses over a dense fiber network offering data, voice and IP services over a 5,800 route-mile fiber network with connectivity to LSOs in small, medium and major markets. Headquartered in Waynesboro, Va., Lumos Networks serves Virginia, West Virginia and portions of Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio and Maryland.

Lumos Networks has a 100-year history of innovative product offerings and exceptional customer service.

Our diversified portfolio is attractive to carriers with needs for TDM and Ethernet transport services, fiber to the cell site, and to regional enterprise customers seeking high-quality data and IP services and interconnection to data centers in our region.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A:
Lumos Networks follows a strategy of being first to offer next-generation products to customers in our regional markets. SONET and Ethernet network architectures satisfy the most complex communications needs. We deliver communications services with excellence, innovation and integrity. The Lumos Networks team understands that long-term customer relationships reliability and accountability are foundations for our success.

Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A:
While our name has changed to Lumos Networks, our focus on our core values and the people who serve our customers has not.  Implementing our new brand has allowed Lumos Networks to demonstrate to our customers that our way of doing business has remained the same and enter the marketplace as a leader in fiber-based technology.

Q: What do you see as your greatest challenges going forward?
A: Lumos Networks strives to be the leading provider of mobile backhaul service and high-quality data, broadband, voice and IP services. We are committed to serving businesses with the highest quality products and to understand the needs of our customers. Lumos Networks is continually expanding its footprint to ensure connectivity and accessibility to the latest technology.

Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements (new customer wins, new service/product deployment, etc.)?
A: With a new name, Lumos Networks is proud to be publicly-traded on the NASDAQ (LMOS), one of the world’s premier stock exchanges.  Virginia Community College Systems (VCCS) has chosen Lumos Networks to deliver state-of-the-art broadband services to campuses across Virginia. Lumos Networks has also completed a test of 100 Gigabit speed technology across its fiber optic network. The ability to leverage previously unattainable network speeds will be of great benefit to the educational, governmental, healthcare and research sectors across the Mid-Atlantic region, and will serve as a tool for economic development and job creation as well. In 2010, the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council gave Lumos Networks its “High Tech Company” award. In 2011, Alleghany Highlands awarded Lumos Networks as “Business of the Year” for their work in bringing fiber to rural areas. Lumos Networks was named Industry of the Year for 2011 by the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A: Lumos Networks is honored to be a member of COMPTEL and be recognized as an industry leader in fiber networking, infrastructure and expert service support. In order to achieve our goal of being the leading provider of high-quality data, broadband, voice and IP services, we realize the need to stay in-tune with important industry developments. COMPTEL will serve as a pathway to these discussions. COMPTEL also will allow Lumos Networks to support and reach out to the telecommunications community as an active member of this competitive industry.
