Raisecom Inc.
Headquarters Location: Roseville, CA

Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A: Founded in 1999, Raisecom develops a wide range of access and aggregation products used in optical transport networks, including carrier Ethernet switches, Ethernet demarcation devices, GePON, CWDM, FTTX product line and packet transport network solutions. Over 5.5 million devices have been deployed in carrier and service provider networks so far.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A: Strong engineering and efficient manufacturing capabilities drive for solid and lower-cost solutions to market. And, our success is due to our ability to successfully integrate our services with existing network infrastructure and proactive support of our customers.

Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A: Our biggest challenge is name recognition in the new market. Initially customers may work with us for one or two specific opportunities but once given the opportunity we frequently become a preferred vendor.

Q: What do you see as your greatest challenges going forward?
A: Each customer has different technical and logistic requirements for which they need extensive field operation experience to integrate our solutions into a complex infrastructure. For service providers there is a cost for evaluating and introducing a new manufacturer’s product line. We need to work closely with customers to ensure that these costs are offset by benefits.

Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements (new customer wins, new service/product deployment, etc.)?
A: Besides our recent wins in the utility market for FTTx and wireless backhaul projects, Raisecom has won multi-million-dollar projects in Mexico and Chile with major incumbents – such as Telmex (Colombia and Peru), Entel (Chile), GTD and Antel (Uruguay) –  for our FTTx, Ethernet virtual private line and mobile backhaul solutions.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A: It is a very complex and competitive industry. What we are able to learn about customer requirements drives our product development and support requirements.
