Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A: O1 Communications is a facilities-based California CLEC delivering bandwidth and PSTN trunking to enhanced service providers, carriers and other telecoms. O1 offers wholesale California origination, intrastate and interstate termination, toll-free termination, turnkey VoIP services and managed modems at very competitive rates. Our pure IP network is designed to support third-party connectivity with Lucent, Cisco and Acme Packet architecture.

O1 was founded in 1998 and quickly achieved great success: In 2002, O1 was named the fastest growing company in Sacramento by the Sacramento Business Journal, and in 2004 Inc. Magazine named O1 one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the United States.

Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A: O1 is grateful for our lasting success in the telecommunications industry. We attribute this success to over a decade of industry leadership, including our deep understanding of communication technologies, best-in-class carrier grade network infrastructure, aggressive pricing, flexible system architecture and preferential partnering arrangements. We also pride ourselves in our leading customer service and willingness to respond to the specific needs of service providers and CLECs and design solutions to meet their unique requirements.

Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A: The changing landscape of the regulatory environment has consistently been an obstacle that we work to overcome via representation at the California Public Utilities Commission and membership in advocacy groups like COMPTEL and CALTEL.

Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A: Being a member of COMPTEL is very important to O1 Communications, as we value our relationships with our peers in the communications industry. We enjoy both increasing our company recognition and recognizing the innovations of other companies. Belonging to COMPTEL also gives us a voice in shaping the future of industry regulation.
